The Twelve Days of Agape: The story of “Christy”
The news that you’re expecting your first child is often a joyous moment.
But for some, that news comes as shocking, scary, and even shameful—a moment that leaves you feeling unprepared and completely alone.
I was one of those women.
God used Agape Women’s Center to become a lifeline for me. I originally went simply to find out how far along I was in my pregnancy… but after meeting the staff, I knew I would be back. They didn’t just complete an appointment—they showed genuine concern for me as a person.
Agape met my physical needs, but they also ministered to my heart.
They gave me maternity clothes so I would have something to wear to my new job.
They held a baby shower for me, helping provide everything I needed for my little one.
But more than all of that, they showered me with the love and compassion of Christ.
The staff at Agape has a true passion for what they do. Through their parenting classes, I met friends who walked with me through this season—friends who shared in my joys and in my fears as I stepped into motherhood alone. One of those friends even stood beside me and helped coach me through labor and delivery.
I share these details because you may not always get to hear how deeply God uses this ministry. For me, Agape was many things—but the greatest blessing is that God used it to lead me out of fear and shame and into a place of peace, joy, and the most incredible gift I’ve ever been given:
a beautiful baby.
Talk about the spirit of Christmas.
Thank you, Agape, and thank you to everyone who gives so that this ministry can continue. Your time, your resources, your donations—they matter more than you know. I promise you: Agape is a true difference-maker.
